Portugal Visa Fees 2026: Visas and Residence Permits

By the SettleBuddy editorial teamUpdated 13 October 20266 min read

Moving to Portugal means paying two authorities. The consulate charges for the visa, and the migration agency AIMA charges separately for the residence permit once you arrive. The second bill comes in parts. This guide sets out every amount from the visa portal of the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and from AIMA's own fee table, last updated on 26 February 2026, as read on 13 October 2026.

Quick answer

A national visa, the long-stay visa for work, study, remote work or family, costs 110€. A Schengen visa costs 90 euros, or 45 euros for children over 6 and under 12. An appeal against a refusal costs 75€. In Portugal, AIMA currently charges €99.80 to receive and analyse a residence permit application and €85.80 to grant or renew a temporary permit. A permanent residence permit costs €263.40 to grant.
