Qatar Work Visa 2026: Requirements, Cost, QVC Steps

By the SettleBuddy editorial teamUpdated 14 October 20268 min read

A Qatar work visa starts with the employer, not the worker. The company in Qatar obtains the visa approval, and the worker then completes biometrics, a medical test and the signing of the work contract. Applicants living in six countries do this at a Qatar Visa Center (QVC) before they travel. This guide sets out who does what, the documents, what the worker pays, how long the medical stage takes and the rules after arrival, as published by Qatar's Ministry of Interior, the Government Communications Office and the Qatar Visa Center, and read on 14 October 2026.

Quick answer

Your employer in Qatar arranges the work visa. With your visa number and passport number you book a Qatar Visa Center appointment, sign the work contract digitally, enrol biometrics and take the medical test. The QVC charges the applicant no biometric visa fee, which the employer pays directly to the Ministry of Interior. Your passport should be valid for at least 195 days. Allow 10-15 business days for the medical assessment, and travel within 60 days of the medical test. In Qatar, the residence permit follows a medical examination and fingerprinting.

How the Qatar work visa works

Can you apply for a Qatar work visa online?

The worker does not file the visa application. What you do online is book your appointment on the Qatar Visa Center website, using your visa number and passport number. The appointment letter gives the centre address, any fees to be paid and the guidelines for the day. An appointment cannot be cancelled, but it can be rescheduled at least 24 hours before the scheduled time, up to three times.

Qatar Visa Centers: India, Pakistan and four more countries

The QVC states that it manages 14 centers in 6 countries: India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal and the Philippines. Its site lets applicants in each of these countries book in English and in local languages, and its FAQ for Pakistan refers to centres in Islamabad and Karachi. The Government Communications Office describes the programme as 20 Qatar Visa Centres and, in one passage, also names Indonesia.

The QVC's role is to let work visa applicants complete the biometric and medical part of the process in their country of origin. Whether visas are being issued for a given nationality at a given time is a decision of the Ministry of Interior, and the pages we read publish no list of open or closed nationalities.

Documents for the QVC appointment

DocumentWhat the QVC asks for
Appointment letterA print-out of the appointment confirmation
PassportValid for at least 195 days
Academic qualificationsA copy certified by the concerned authorities in Qatar and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, ratified by the local Embassy, with the original for verification
Qatar ID and medical documentsA previous Qatar ID and any medical documentation done in Qatar, if applicable

The QVC adds that the appointment letter carries the complete list for your case, and that names must appear as a minimum of 3 names in the exact sequence shown in the passport.

The steps at the Qatar Visa Center

  1. Sign the work contract. The contract is shown in digital format for you to read, agree and sign before biometrics. If your name, salary or benefits are wrong, the QVC advises you to contact the employer for an amendment and rebook.
  2. Enrol biometrics. The services include facial image capture, iris scan and fingerprints.
  3. Take the medical test. It is scheduled automatically, exactly one hour after the biometric enrolment. Allow at least 2 hours.

The visa medical covers a general examination with vision testing, a chest X-ray, and laboratory tests that include HIV, hepatitis B and C markers (HBsAg and anti-HCV), syphilis, blood sugar and, for women, a pregnancy test. The fit or unfit decision is declared by Qatar's health ministry, and the reason for an unfit status is not revealed.

Qatar work visa price: what the worker pays

The pages we read publish no single fee table for a work visa. The QVC warns applicants not to pay anyone outside the centre.

Processing time

Is there an age limit?

The pages we read publish no age limit for a Qatar work visa. The QVC's only age rules concern biometrics: children below 6 years of age and applicants above the age of 80 do not need to submit biometric information.

After you arrive: residence permit and Qatar ID
